Small Dogs vs. Big Dogs

  • I have two dogs, one's a small Jack Russel Terrier and my other dog is a German Shorthair and Black Lab mix. I think each dog has their own upsides and downsides. I can carry my Jack Russel places and she can lay in my lap, but she is also extremely hyper and yappy. My other dog doesn't bark at much, but he's smelly.
So, what do you prefer? Big ones, small ones, or both?
  • I like both, but I think I lean more toward the bigger breeds.
  • I love both. My little dog, a JRT like your's, is a demon but he gets me to exercise and is currently the only reason why I'm not a fatty. My bigger dog is hyper, even though he's going on fourteen, and he's oh so much fun to play with.
  • I like big dogs, or, as my family calls them, romping dogs, because once you force some training through them, they always behave. Plus, they're romping dogs. They wrestle.
  • I really do like both, but if I had to choose, I would like a big dog. I have both, though. My small dog is very yappy and it gets annoying. My lab is much quieter and knows some training so hes much more obedient. I don't think I would've had enough patience with my little min pin if I tried to train her so yeah I like bigger dogs.
  • I've got both. A chihuahua and two boxers. I love them both. But I tend to favor big dogs because I can be more playful with them...
  • I prefer small dogs, but that's probably because we've always kept small ones. I've had a terrier, a jack russel and currently have a king charles. I like big dogs, but I don't like it when they jump and nearly knock me over. :)
  • I grew up with Irish Wolfhounds so I definitely love big dogs.
My parents stopped breeding them though, so I haven't had one in ages.
But I still have my GermanShep/Husky mix and she's decently sized.
  • I prefer big dogs... maybe 'cause I got bitten by a chihuahua when I was a teenager. Still, I've never been a fan of small dogs :/
  • My Chihuahua is the sweetest dog in the world.. I think it all depends of the actual dog.. You cant judge it depending on breed, gender, age etc.. It depends how well your dog was brought up, if it has insecurities about certain things, feels the need to protect you, etc..
