Keeping a cat indoors permanently? I feel like you should only keep a cat indoors if it had a previous owner who declawed the cat, or if you live in the city. If the cat wants out, I let the cat out. Cat wants in, then I let the cat in.
My cats are terrible. Always on the counter. I have to spray them with water from the sink.
Well, outdoor cats always have the risk of being attacked by other cats, hit by cars, other dogs, coyotes, hawks, owls, etc.
My cat's an outdoor/indoor cat, she doesn't stay out there long, only to go to the bathroom in the flower bed. But it shouldn't matter if the owners knows what's out there and keeps an eye out.
I think it all comes down to how you thought your cat to behave indoors. Mine is usually the indoors type, but when the whether is nice, he stays outside sometimes for a whole day, and only comes inside to sleep. But, we live in the suburbs, and our neighborhood is more a dog kinda one. Luckily, we haven't had any incidents.
I am very proud of my William. When he's inside he knows where he can go and where not. He has his litter tray and does everything there. Even though he's a little on the wild side, we haven't had any troubles with him.
I keep my babies indoors, they're litter trained, and trained not to jump on the counters.
I feel like there's just too many risks outside, like cars and disease, not to mention there's hawks everywhere where I live and recently a stray cat was attacked by a gang of raccoons and didn't make it :(
If I lived in a rural area, I don't think it'd be very bad, however. But here there's too many idiots speeding and not paying attention to the road.
I keep one of my cats inside but sometimes I let her out but as soon as we get outside she wants to come in. And my other cat will never be able to be a indoors cat. When wants out he will scratch and bite to out and he goes outside for the litter box.
Indoors?
