Picasso of His Kind
We've seen monkeys brag about their painting skills but have you ever seen a whale grabbing a brush and leaving astonishing marks on the paper? No? You're about to. A seven year old Beluga whale residing at an oceanarium in China, is a real star. One day he just grabbed a paintbrush left behind by a visitor and began playing with it.
"He showed a lot of interest in painting right from the start so now all we have to do is give him the brushes and hold the paper while he paints with his mouth. His favourite colour seems to be blue and he's best of all at seascapes. His people always look like seals," said trainer Zhang Yong.
Beluga whales look like dolphins and are known as the sea canary thanks to their high pitched squeaks. Keepers say that he really enjoys painting - sometimes he paints them instead of the paper. Purposely, they say.
