Tillie has a heartbreaking story. We didn't have Tillie when she was a puppy, we just got her last year around the time we got Bailey. Tillie was born in Indiana at a puppy mill. She was the runt of the litter, and I'm starting to wonder if she was always the last one to eat since she eats everything that we put on the floor. When she was about 6/7 weeks old, a lady bought her, expecting to breed her. They tried three pregnancies but they never stuck. The lady brought her back to the puppy mill and got her money back. The lady at the puppy mill didn't want anything to do with her since she couldn't get pregnant so they were just going to put her down. Instead a lady about a half an hour from my house went down there and got some dogs out of there, Tillie included. They brought them back to Iowa and got them fixed up and evaluated. Tillie was only 5 pounds when she came to Iowa, the rest of her brothers and sisters were over 10 or so pounds. It was then they realized either the lady who bought her or the puppy mill lady debarked her. My grandma had gotten a Lhasa Apso from the same lady who resuced the dogs from the same lady, and she was like Tillie but worse, way worse. Anyways the lady called my grandma and my grandma asked if we wanted Tillie. Which of course we did, so we went up to the lady's house and got Tillie the next week. When we got her she was skin and bones, hardly any hair on her, and she was missing teeth. The lady who had her told us she "loved being in crates," and that "she doesn't like to come out of them." When we brought her home we opened the crate to let her come in and out whenever she wanted but all she did was shake and hide. We gave the crate away, let her sleep wherever she wanted and now she has the perfect life. She's 12 pounds (what she should have been), hairier than ever, and the happiest can be.
And if you haven't notice, Tillie sports a IOWA HAWKEYE collar. This is the best college team hands down.(:
